In Vista, you can purchase a new PC with the ATI Digital Cable Tuner(s) and have your cable company come out and install CableCard(s). As Barb mentioned there are version 2 extender devices coming. But for the 360, make sure you don't have a disc in the drive. That reduces the noise quite a bit.
